The disks stored 250
MB per side and could contain “premastered” (pre-recorded) content, user-recorded data, or a mix of both. While the format was not rewritable, users would be able to append new information to disks in multiple sessions, similar to a CD-R. A fully rewritable version was planned for intrduction around December 2002, but was never released.
